Why does Best Author Tools exist?
If you are an indie (self-published) author, you know there’s more to self-publishing than writing great books. You’re responsible for writing, publishing, marketing, and everything else in between.
But the independent in “indie” and the self in “self-published” do not mean that getting your book into the hands of readers is a solo effort. You need a team of trusted experts with the tools, resources, and services to help your book be the best it can be.
But how do you find the best tools, resources, and services?
Aren’t there enough resources already out there?
There are many online lists of the best author tools, but how do you know which lists are the most reliable?
For example, if you’re trying to find the best editing service for your new book, there’s no shortage of websites and blog posts that list professional editors they consider the best.
Or, if you need to find a course to help guide you through the process of publishing to online retailers, you can quickly search online and find many lists detailing the best courses for self-publishing.
If you need to find the best writing software, or the best cover designers, you can easily find recommendations.
These lists and review posts are very helpful, but they also present a problem: they usually list the best services, courses, software, etc. in the article author’s opinion.
And often, these lists are written in order to promote the service’s own resource.
Of course, many of these opinions are well-informed. The authors of these lists and reviews have done their homework and tested the best author tools available.
But wouldn’t it be nice to find one place where the best author tools listed are the ones experienced authors have actually used? A place where authors can share their experiences?
Who am I to contribute to this conversation?
My name is Darryl Frayne, a real, live indie author based in Canada. I don’t claim to have 20+ successful books under my belt. No where close. But I’m working on it. Like you, I’ve struggled to find the best tools for my writing journey.
I’ve also spent over 20 years as a marketing support professional, working with businesses of all sizes, non-profits, and bloggers. In that role, I’ve helped many businesses and non-profits find the best tools to help them in their marketing efforts. My goal now is to help promote the best tools and the authors who use them.
Of course, I also want to promote the best lists and review sites.
In my own research, I’ve learned from many lists and reviews, but one question I always found myself asking was, “Okay, but what tools are indie authors actually using?” In the day-to-day trenches of writing, publishing, marketing, and learning, what tools do successful authors really use?
For me, the answer to that question reveals which tools are the BEST tools. And the best way to find out which tools authors are actually using is to simply ask them.
Best Author Tools exists to help indie authors find the best tools and resources available.
When authors know the best tools, they will find themselves in reliable, unbiased, and professional company.
And with the best tools in hand, their books will find their way into the hands of more readers. Isn’t that what we all want?
